Dr. Gerrit Kurtz is a researcher in the Research Division on Africa and the Middle East at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP) in Berlin. His research focuses on conflict prevention, peacebuilding and diplomacy in the Horn of Africa. Previously, he worked, among others, for the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP) and the Global Public Policy Institute (GPPi). In 2019, he received a PhD in Peace and Conflict Studies from the Department of War Studies, King’s College London.

Dr. Gerrit Kurtz ist Wissenschaftler in der Forschungsgruppe Afrika und Mittlerer Osten bei der Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik (SWP) in Berlin. Seine Forschung beschäftigt sich mit Konfliktprävention, Friedensförderung und Diplomatie am Horn von Afrika. Frühere Stationen waren unter anderem die Deutsche Gesellschaft für Auswärtige Politik (DGAP) und das Global Public Policy Institute. 2019 promovierte er in Friedens- und Konfliktforschung am Department of War Studies, King’s College London.
